A night aboard: what to expect in the cabin
Updated 28 October 2026
Every cabin on both boats is air-conditioned and has a private bathroom. Where the boat spends the night depends on the weather and the captain's decision that day. Light sleepers tell us in writing which cabin they want. PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia confirms cabin details in writing.
The cabin at night: air, bed, bathroom
Every cabin on both boats is air-conditioned and has a private bathroom. On Sea Familia 1 each cabin has a queen-size bed, and the photographed bathrooms have a rain shower. On Sea Familia 2 the Master cabins have a double bed and an extra bed.
The Deluxe cabins have two single beds, and the Family cabin has a queen bed and a bunk. Ask in writing how many hours the air conditioning runs if that matters to your party.
Photos of the Deluxe and Family cabins on Sea Familia 2 are on request.
Light, heat and early mornings
Days start early on this route. Sunrise at Padar runs from 05:31 to 06:18 through the year, and the Padar climb starts about 65 minutes before it. A child who sleeps to eight will find the first morning short. Plan for it.
Cabins have windows, and the Turtle cabins on Sea Familia 1 have large portholes, while a blind is visible in a photo of a Manta cabin. Pack a sleep mask for a light sleeper.
Heat is part of the trip. October and November are calm, clear and hot, and the cabins are air-conditioned. See the month guide for the rest of the year.
Children and light sleepers
A child sleeps best next to a parent and in the right bed. Use the cabin guide, and look at Manta Cabin I on Sea Familia 1 or the Family cabin on Sea Familia 2. A light sleeper does better in a cabin of their own.
Every boat hums at night, so a light sleeper chooses the cabin with care. If a child is a light sleeper, say so in your message, and your written quote records what we know.
The cabin guide and the baby and toddler page cover beds and ages in more detail.
Where the boat sleeps
Where the boat spends the night depends on the weather and the captain's decision that day. The captain chooses the anchorage each day from the weather, and the choice can change within a trip as quickly as the wind does.
A boat at anchor is a boat at rest. The sound of an anchorage changes from night to night. If something matters, such as light, noise or an early start, tell us before you book.
The three-day route shows the daytime stops, and the cabin pages show what is in each room.
FAQ
Is the cabin air-conditioned all night?
Every cabin on both boats is air-conditioned. Ask in writing before you pay if the hours it runs matter to your party, and treat the answer in your quote as final.
Will a baby sleep?
Most do once the day has tired them out. A cot is not on the list for either boat, so choose a cabin with a bed you trust, such as Manta Cabin I on Sea Familia 1, and read our page on babies and toddlers.
Where does the boat anchor?
Where the boat spends the night depends on the weather and the captain's decision that day. The captain chooses it each day from the weather, and the route is a starting point, not a promise.
Is there a light in the cabin?
Ask us in writing what the cabin you want has. A photo of a Turtle cabin on Sea Familia 1 shows warm cove lighting, and every cabin has a private bathroom. Bring a small torch for the night.
