The stops on the route and what each is for

Updated 28 October 2026

The listed Sea Familia 1 route visits Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Manta Point, Sebayur and Kanawa. Each stop is a snorkel or a walk of 15 to 120 minutes. The captain sets the order on the day. PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia books both boats.

Seven stops, seven short pages

Each page below carries the minutes, the depth and the current for one stop, and says plainly which guests it fits. Kelor, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo and Manta Point are on the listed Sea Familia 1 route. Taka Makassar has a page because the tide sometimes puts it beside Manta Point, but it is not a fixed stop of that route.

The route runs by day. Stops and their order can change with traffic, weather and tides; the captain decides on the day. The Komodo route on Sea Familia 2 is agreed with you in writing before you pay; the captain sets the order by conditions.

Which stop for which person

  • The first snorkel: Pink Beach, 45 to 90 minutes, 1 to 8 m, mild current.
  • The walk: Komodo, 45 to 120 minutes with a ranger.
  • The climb: Padar, 25 to 45 minutes, moderate.
  • The dusk: Kalong, watched from the boat.
  • The drift: Manta Point, 30 to 60 minutes in strong current.
  • The sandbar: Taka Makassar, at low tide only.
  • The short hill: Kelor, 15 to 30 minutes, steep.

Read it as a menu for your party, not a promise of the order. The three-day route shows how the listed Sea Familia 1 stops fit together.

Three stops without a page

Manjarite, Sebayur and Kanawa appear in the listed Sea Familia 1 route as stop names and have no page here. Manjarite is a snorkel stop on the first afternoon. Sebayur is a beach and reef stop, 2 to 10 m deep, with a mild current. Kanawa is a shallow snorkel, 1 to 6 m, with a mild current, and the easiest first snorkel on the route.

Every stop shows depth and current, and a stop with strong current says so. Where a detail changes with the day, the page says the captain decides.

FAQ

Can we skip a stop?

Yes. On a private charter the boat is yours, so you tell the captain which stops matter to your party and which do not. The captain still decides the order on the day from traffic, weather and tides. On Sea Familia 2 the Komodo route is agreed with you in writing before you pay.

Which stop is best with children?

Pink Beach and Kanawa. Pink Beach has a mild current at 1 to 8 m, and Kanawa is shallow at 1 to 6 m with a mild current. Both suit a first snorkel with a parent in the water. Manta Point has a strong current and suits confident swimmers.

Are all the stops on one trip?

On the listed Sea Familia 1 route for 3 days and 2 nights, nine stops are named, from Kelor to Kanawa. Shorter trips visit fewer, and the captain can swap stops by weather and tide. Sea Familia 2 has no listed route, so its stops are agreed with you in writing before you pay.
