Two families share a private boat in Komodo, one bill split in half
Updated 28 October 2026
Two families of four, eight guests, pay IDR 12,140,000 (≈ USD 745) per person on Sea Familia 1 or IDR 14,300,000 (≈ USD 877) on Sea Familia 2. That is for 3 days and 2 nights, whole boat. Each family takes its own cabins. Eight guests share the first band on both boats, so the bill splits cleanly.
Two families, six cabins: where the line falls
Two households on one boat is a plain sum, and the limits come first. Sea Familia 1 has 6 cabins and takes up to 12 guests, 13 with the extra bed in Manta Cabin I. Sea Familia 2 has 6 cabins and takes up to 14 guests.
Six plus six fills Sea Familia 1 exactly. Seven plus seven needs Sea Familia 2, which takes 14 guests. A 13th guest on Sea Familia 1 would sleep on the extra bed in Manta Cabin I, and the price comes in your written quote.
Who decides the stops? The captain, on the day, from traffic, weather and tides. Both families tell us before booking what matters most. It could be a calm first snorkel for the younger children or the Padar climb for the older ones. We build the plan around that.
Who sleeps where for 4 + 4, 5 + 5 and 6 + 6
4 + 4 on Sea Familia 1. Family A takes Manta Cabin I, which has a queen-size bed and an extra bed, and Manta II. Family B takes Manta III and IV. Both Turtle cabins on the upper deck stay free.
5 + 5. Each family fills two cabins and puts the fifth guest in a third. One family can use Manta Cabin I for three. That is five cabins for ten guests, with one guest alone in a cabin, and the 9 to 12 band applies.
6 + 6. All six cabins are in use, two guests each, in a queen-size bed. On Sea Familia 2, a 4 + 4 split gives each family a Master cabin and a Deluxe cabin. The Family cabin stays spare, and the 1 to 10 band applies.

Splitting the bill without arguments
Work from the per-person figures, then halve. Eight guests pay IDR 12,140,000 (≈ USD 745) each on Sea Familia 1 and IDR 14,300,000 (≈ USD 877) on Sea Familia 2. Ten guests pay IDR 10,270,000 (≈ USD 630) and IDR 11,440,000 (≈ USD 702). Twelve pay IDR 8,560,000 (≈ USD 525) and IDR 10,720,000 (≈ USD 658).
All figures are for 3 days and 2 nights, whole boat, at 2026 rates. A family of four pays four of the eight shares, and a family of five pays five of the ten. The deposit is 50 percent and is paid once, by one family, with the balance due 30 days before departure.

Three days both sets of children can manage (sample)
This sample is built from park timings and the listed Sea Familia 1 route. On Sea Familia 2 the stops are agreed in writing before you pay.
Day 1. Kelor's short hill for the children who like to climb, Manjarite for the first snorkel, then the bats at Kalong from the deck.
Day 2. Padar is optional, and families can split on it. Pink Beach is the shared snorkel, 45 to 90 minutes in 1 to 8 m with a mild current. The Komodo walk with a ranger follows, 45 to 120 minutes.
Day 3. Kanawa, a shallow, easy snorkel at 1 to 6 m, then back to Labuan Bajo. The comparison of the two boats and the family page fill in the rest. Book through the booking steps.
FAQ
Can two families pay separately?
A booking carries one deposit, which is 50 percent of the fare, and one balance due 30 days before departure. If the two families want to pay us separately, tell us before you pay and we confirm in writing what is possible. Until then, plan on one family paying and the other repaying it.
Which cabins for 5 + 5?
On Sea Familia 1, give one family Manta Cabins I and II, with Manta I's extra bed for the third person, and the other family three of the remaining cabins. Ten guests pay the 9 to 12 band. On Sea Familia 2, ten guests pay the 1 to 10 band, with Master, Deluxe and Family cabins to divide.
Do we both need the same dates?
Yes. A private charter is one boat on one set of dates, and both families sail together. If one family can only join for part of it, ask us about an open trip instead, where each family takes its own cabins on a fixed departure with other guests aboard.
Who decides the route?
The captain decides the order on the day, from traffic, weather and tides. On Sea Familia 1 the listed route is the starting point. On Sea Familia 2 the Komodo route is agreed with you in writing before you pay. Tell us each family's wishes early.
