Skipper's notes
Updated 28 October 2026
Field notes for parents and friends planning a small-boat trip in Komodo. They cover the minimum party size, when to book, three days with two children, the park's snorkelling rules and a cabin-by-cabin guide to Sea Familia 2. Each note links the pages it relies on. PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia writes them.

Five notes start the column. Each is signed, dated and linked to the pages it relies on.
- The real minimum for a private boat.
- When to book, and what each payment step costs.
- Three days with two children.
- The park's in-water rules this year.
- Sea Familia 2, cabin by cabin.
Read them in the order they matter to you. A planning question comes first for most parties; the Sea Familia 2 guide is for anyone already leaning towards the bigger boat.

How a note earns its place here
Each note answers one question a family asks us before booking, with the numbers that settle it: minutes, depths, cabin beds, fares and dates. A park rule carries its source and the date we read it. A plan is labelled as a plan.
When a rule or a rate changes, the note is updated and re-dated, so the date at the top is the one to trust.
FAQ
Who writes the notes?
Our team at PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia writes them, signed KEXI team. They are not the shipowner's voice and not the crew's. Each note links the pages it relies on, and a park rule carries its source.
How do you check the rules?
A rule carries its source title, its link and the date we read it. Park rules are quoted only from a park authority or a news source, never from an operator's house rule. If a rule changes, the note is dated and updated.
