Three days on a private boat give five snorkel stops of 30 to 90 minutes. For six guests the whole of Sea Familia 1 costs IDR 16,180,000 (≈ USD 993) per person for 3 days and 2 nights. Sea Familia 1 provides mask and snorkel. This is a snorkel boat.
Mask, snorkel and what the water holds
This is a snorkel boat. Diving can be arranged with a separate dive operator on request. Everything below is about snorkelling.
Sea Familia 1 provides a mask and snorkel; fins are not provided. Snorkel gear for Sea Familia 2 is confirmed in your written quote. Get that line in writing before you pay, and ask which mask sizes are on board for the children in your party.
Mantas, turtles and dolphins are often seen in season, never promised. Sightings depend on tide and current, and the captain decides the order of stops on the day. Even a trip without a single manta still gives you five snorkel stops of 30 to 90 minutes each.
Life jackets and basic first aid are in the fare on both boats. Anyone who tires, or a child new to open water, can wear one at any stop.
Under the hull: the snorkel stops, gentlest first
Kanawa, 1 to 6 m, mild current. Shallow coral over white sand, and the easiest first snorkel on the route. Use the 45 to 90 minutes here to get used to breathing through the tube.
Pink Beach, 1 to 8 m, mild current. Reef close to the shore, 45 to 90 minutes, and calmer water in the morning. Sebayur, 2 to 10 m, mild current, is a beach and reef stop for the late afternoon.
Manjarite is the first snorkel of the trip, after the Kelor hill on day 1, so treat it as a practice swim. Manta Point, 3 to 15 m, strong current, 30 to 60 minutes, is a drift along the reef for confident swimmers.
That's the order of difficulty, not of the route. On the listed route Manjarite comes on day 1, Pink Beach, Manta Point and Sebayur on day 2, and Kanawa on day 3. Taka Makassar is not on the listed route; ask in your quote if you want it in the plan.
Who sleeps where when half the boat is in the water by 7
Within a day, any snorkel party sorts itself into early risers and late sleepers. On Sea Familia 1, put the early risers in the Manta cabins on the main deck and the late sleepers in the two Turtle cabins on the upper deck. Each cabin has a queen-size bed, air conditioning and a private bathroom.
On Sea Familia 2 the two Master cabins sit on the main deck and the Deluxe and Family cabins on the lower deck. Three Deluxe cabins have two single beds each, which suits friends who swim together and sleep apart.
The deck split is a courtesy to each other: the early swimmers on one deck, the late sleepers on the other. Photos of the Deluxe and Family cabins are on request.

Snorkel days one to three (sample)
This sample is drawn from park timings and the listed Sea Familia 1 route. The captain reorders it on the day, and on Sea Familia 2 the stops are agreed in writing.
- Day 1. Manjarite after the Kelor hill. Kalong at dusk, from the deck.
- Day 2. Padar at first light, breakfast aboard, then Pink Beach, lunch and the Komodo ranger walk, Manta Point in the afternoon, Sebayur late in the afternoon.
- Day 3. Kanawa early, then the run back to Labuan Bajo.
That makes five snorkel stops on the listed route: Manjarite, Pink Beach, Manta Point, Sebayur and Kanawa.
What a snorkel-first party pays
Six guests pay IDR 16,180,000 (≈ USD 993) each on Sea Familia 1 for 3 days and 2 nights, whole boat, at 2026 rates. Sea Familia 2 costs IDR 19,070,000 (≈ USD 1,170) each. Four guests pay IDR 24,280,000 (≈ USD 1,490) on Sea Familia 1.

Do I need my own mask?
On Sea Familia 1 a mask and snorkel are provided. Fins are not. Snorkel gear for Sea Familia 2 is confirmed in your written quote. A child, or anyone with a small face, does best with a mask they've already tried at home.
Which stop is best for a first snorkel?
Kanawa is the easiest, 1 to 6 m deep with a mild current, and Pink Beach, at 1 to 8 m with a mild current, comes a close second. Both suit a first-timer. Leave Manta Point until the swimmer is comfortable, because its current is strong.
Can a non-swimmer join at Manta Point?
Manta Point is a drift in strong current, 3 to 15 m deep, and a confident swimmer or a life jacket is advised. A non-swimmer should ask the crew before getting in. Staying on board costs you nothing else that day, and the crew makes the call in the water.
Can we book a dive on this boat?
